Time for a recap on my resolutions, which I set at the beginning of the year (and found under the ‘My Resolutions’ tab at the top of the page).  I think that it might help to keep me on track if I re-visit them at the beginning of each month, which is also a good time to add any new ones that I may have thought of.

Here it goes:  How did I do in January?

Diet/Food Goals

  • Make all of our weekday meals.  I did pretty well on this one!  I have made all of our weekday dinners and most of our lunches since the beginning of the month.
  • Drink 2L + of H2O each day. GONG.  I drank about 1L each day.  Not nearly enough for me.
  • Try to eat local fish at least once each week.   Half a gong on this one.  I’ve eaten fish each time I’ve eaten at a restaurant, but haven’t cooked any local fish at home yet.
  • Eat breakfast every day.   CHECK!  Major success story in January.  Thank you, Blendtec.
  • Make 2 new recipes every weekCHECK!  I’ve done well on this one too.  And, in the process, discovered the greatest and easiest Thai Red Curry recipe ever.
  • Avoid white sugar.   GONG.  Big time gong!  We had three birthdays in our department in January, meaning three afternoons where trays of goodies were being passed around my office and left in spots that I pass multiple times each day.  We’ve also had ice cream in our freezer for the first time since approximately 2007.  Gotta clean up my act, big time!
  • Avoid white flour.   GONG.  See above.
  • Avoid processed foods.   Half a check…minus the ice cream situation.  All goodies mentioned above came from a local bakery and all of the meals I created have been 100% from scratch (and about 60% organic).
  • Take my multivitamin every dayCHECK!  Which reminds me of a post I want to do raving about my new vitamins that miraculously don’t make me want to vomit immediately after swallowing them.
  • Eat my greens.  The BlendTec is a big help with this one.   CHECK!
  • Cook only with coconut oil and olive oil.   CHECK!  For the record, brussels sprouts sliced in half, drizzled in coconut oil and baked at 400 degrees for 20 minutes are to die for.

Fitness Goals

  • Yoga 2-3 times each week, either via class or DVD.   GONG.  I’ve done yoga exactly three times since the beginning of 2010.  But, I found a local class that I might try starting this week.
  • Cardio 2-3 times each week – 30 Day Shred, at the track or in the gym.   GONG.  I’ve only managed once per week…need to up the ante on this.
  • Walking in the evenings after dinner with Carlos.  GONG.  The weather has been crap!  Excuses, excuses.
  • Stretching every day.   GONG.  Just plain gong.

Professional Goals

  • Complete at least two more courses towards my MastersMy company, like so many others, is watching the purse strings this year and have only agreed to pay for one of the courses.  Oh well.  I really can’t complain a bit.  And I can pay for the other myself and do it via correspondence with the university.  No biggie.

Creative Goals

  • Do something creative every day. I was half-successful with this.  My camera is getting a lot more use, but I haven’t put enough time into jewelry-making or much else.
  • Learn my camera, inside and out.  Keep booking mini photoshoots with friends for the experience.   CHECK!  I had a wonderful mini-photoshoot with some friends who wanted some engagement shots taken.
  • Journal. CHECK!  I’ve been keeping up with my 10-Year Journal every night.

All in all, not too bad.  My food/diet goals need some work but they are going pretty well.  My fitness goals are a big-time failure so far.  Time to pick it up!  I need to put a bit more effort into my creativity goals.

Looking forward to a fresh start for February.  🙂

Tuesday Goals:

Start the day off on a healthy note….CHECK!  Check out this greenie:

Banana, pineapple, unsweetened shredded coconut, lime juice, kale, filtered water.

Yum.  Greenies are the best way to start the day, in my opinion.  They have replaced my morning coffee most mornings and get my energy up before work…which is important because I usually have to utilize (at least part of) my brain from the moment I walk in the door of my office.

Tuesday Goals:

  • 2L of water during the work day.
  • Avoid cookie-bearing co-worker.
  • No coffee.
  • Weather-permitting, go for a walk at lunch (there was a casual monsoon-type weather system hanging out on the Rock over my lunch hour yesterday…Blue Monday appropriate, no?)
  • Weather-permitting, hit up the track after work for 45 minutes of running, walking and gruelling stair climbing.
  • Get into my new Book Club book (The Shack)
  • Figure out how to put a blogroll in my sidebar.  Am I missing something?

Happy Tuesday, everyone!
